Wholly disreputable, happy because you found me out. Work at MCEA, serve on Fridley EQEC and Planning Commission, this is personal.

Two more months of waiting for PolyMet to release the result of their "studies" and tell everyone what they want to do with their busted and repudiated 2018/2019 permits. But it's not a "delay!" That press release was just an estimate! (Seems important to remember when reading future press releases)

The fact that Tom Homan believes in fiat currency is the real scandal here

Look everyone knows that you get your corruption payments in crypto these days, cash is something from the nineteen hundreds

The Loons are proving they really belong as a Minnesota men's professional sportsball team tonight.

Yes, but you gotta wonder why LE is reacting completely differently in an adjacent county to the very same policy. Actually never mind, I know why.

Read more - here's a 2023 press release from Ramsey County detailing the cooperation between law enforcement and the positive results of ending the same stops that Hennepin County law enforcement claims are essential to stopping crime: www.ramseycounty.us/sites/defaul...

Law enforcement is freaking out about Hennepin County ending prosecutions from low-level traffic stops - claiming it will lead to a crime wave. But Ramsey County did the same thing 5 years ago, and huh, check the results. Crime is way down! Why is nobody talking about this?

The short answer is "not enough, yet." We will keep working on it! #water #ourwaterisourstrength

Since pro-fossil fuel political types love to cherry pick days with high levels of coal/gas in MISO, here's a reminder that we can get more than 75% of our electricity carbon free on good days.
isakkvam.bsky.social
Anyways, MISO as a whole is >50% carbon-free today. But in my neck of the woods, the MN/ND/SD subregion is about 62% wind and 14% nuclear, so >75% carbon-free.

Meanwhile, taxing social media companies is very popular!

Note to politicians - giving big tax breaks to big tech billionaires for bigly huge data centers is remarkably unpopular. Just 12% of MN State Fairgoers surveyed support them! (Via MN Senate State Fair poll, full results: www.senate.mn/departments/...)

Hey MN-fiscal disparities pool for property tax revenues from data centers. There's way too much secrecy and competition for these proposals, and way too much state sales tax subsidy. Let's stop concentrating the benefits and socializing the costs. Model: www.house.mn.gov/hrd/pubs/fis...

MCEA and 8 additional MN groups petitioned the MPCA today to create rules to reduce pollution and erosion from agricultural drainage systems. Here's a pic to remind us of why that's needed via @roblevine82.bsky.social Miss/St. Croix confluence. www.mncenter.org/press-releas...

Since people are talking about Intel equity stake and socialism, here's a reminder that Minnesota state agencies (IRRRB and DEED) have lost money taking equity stakes in speculative sulfide mining companies and say they would do it again! www.duluthnewstribune.com/news/irrrb-d...
IRRRB, DEED lost big bucks on Duluth Metals stock
When the Chilean copper mining company Antofagasta bought out Duluth Metals on Jan. 20, they paid 45 cents for every share of the foundering company's stock.

Tremendous crossover move right here:

Well, I can't wait until Trump starts talking about the Minneapolis DFL convention
aaronklemz.bsky.social
And now Minnesota customers will see their electricity bills increase to pay for it. Seriously, I'm not kidding. MISO (the regional transmission organization) ordered 10 states and their customers to kick in for the costs. Hope you like subsidizing mercury and CO2 pollution, Minnesota!

The Trump Administration extended its order to keep a Michigan coal plant open at an estimated cost of $1 million per day over the objections of the utility and state regulators who've said its closure would generate $600 million in savings www.theguardian.com/environment/...
A coal-fired plant in Michigan was to close. But Trump forced it to keep running at $1m a day
A town had big plans for the facility site, until the Trump administration ordered it to stay open, a move it extended this week
