Physical miniature elements getting ready

You’ll especially go nuts for it, it’s gonzo filmmaking, good fun.

Days later and I’m still thinking about Gore Verbinski’s new movie “Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die.”

It has one of the wildest third acts I’ve ever seen. Sharp satire mixed with incredible sci-fi moments, and an all time Sam Rockwell performance. I’m excited for everyone to see it when it hits.

Bumped into @mickgarris.bsky.social this morning waiting for my flight to Austin. It was a joy to meet such a gracious and talented filmmaker. I probably gushed a little too much about the Fly II, sorry Mick. If you’re at Fantastic Fest make sure to check out the Masters Of Horror reunion tomorrow!

Another Friday where you can stick me in your earholes in multiple ways. There's a new @itsthehippocket.bsky.social episode up right now with guest @rifewithkatie.bsky.social ! If you're feeling nostalgic for the mid-2000s, I'm on @podcastlikeits.bsky.social to talk about Peter Jackson's KING KONG.

He does one for every month, I love it, but August is the best.

I am glad to hear MURDERBOT's getting a season two. It's a terrifically weird show and a great adaptation.

Totally. I can imagine why the concept of this story is so close to his heart. We all contain multitudes, but what he contains is beyond most of our imaginations.

The LIFE OF CHUCK was wonderful.

@mikeflanaganfilm.com has crafted a movie that illustrates and expands on the value of every single life in a way I’ve never seen before. It’s a warm meal that reminds us of the beauty of existence, the impressions we leave and take, and how it’s all worth it. 🕺

I feel like Continental Studios would want to get into that sweet video game adaptation business and want to bring in the experts for…

I’d have to think about it a bit, but I do know that @aaronmorgan.bsky.social laughed so hard during the naked fight in Borat that I thought his soul was going to pop out of his body like the weasels in Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

Celebrating Canada’s big elections tonight the only way I could. These photos are going to make all my fellow xennials very thirsty… (you can buy this box at Costco, fyi)

We had a pair of vultures bless our home with their new family member. We are being very protective of them as we wait for the new baby.

Bong Joon Ho just used his Q&A before John Carpenter’s The Thing at the @AcademyMuseum to ask him to score his next next film — a horror flick — and Carpenter said yes!

Magical evening at the movies!

The Pitt, Paradise, and Common Side Effects… I haven’t felt this excited about television in quite some time. It’s all so excellent, every episode of those shows is a banger… zero instances of “just give it a few episodes.”

It’s also part of the value of the phones/tablets they DO make a massive profit on, so I don’t even see it as a loss. It’s like saying they lose money on their email app.

I’m super excited about the “mini gallery” that’s a part of POOR EXAMPLE, a brick and mortar were opening in two weeks!

The minis look so good too, here’s the first peek.

Don’t sleep on this movie, but especially this segment. It’s so fun. KNB did an incredible job on the makeup and creatures for this anthology. David Johansen is incredible in this role.

As folks continue to pay tribute to the career and music of David Johansen, I'd be remiss if I didn't shout out his appearance in TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE: THE MOVIE, which saw him as a well-dressed assassin going up against a literal cat from Hell. Gory, simple, encapsulated nightmare perfection.
A film still from 1990's TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE: THE MOVIE, featuring actor David Johansen dressed smartly in a gray suit. Perched on his shoulder is seemingly innocent looking black cat. The cat is slightly blurry, because cats never sit still for photos.

I remember doing this in 2020 and then somehow Trump returned.
