As someone who's had a pretty good freelance career and has made a few comic projects over the last handful of years, I also agree that comics are not a strong main source of income. Not without a lot of factors, luck and being in the right place at the right time.

It sucks that that's becoming more and more of a standard. Concept art is intrinsic to the creative foundations of any project, and cutting corners around that with AI is an incredible detriment to the creative process of the project as a whole.
