Many of those have been around for a while. :-D HG Wells, I agree. I've tried one book by Joe Hill and Lev Grossman each. Haven't been interested in Michener. I do want to read Shogun one of these days.

I grew up on Stephen King. You might enjoy Peter Swanson and Blake Crouch.
