Prepping for a music video release for #thedolltones. This song is called Even in the Morning and it’s kinda just about being all grumpy ass fool all of the time. When I wrote it, I was a bit shocked that those lyrics just came out of me. But sometimes, that’s just how it be. #songwriting #lyrics

I lived in San Jose, CA for 16 years and during that time I met a lot of great musicians. Watching now as bands like #scowl, #spy #superworld, and #starninetynine absolutely blow it out of the water. They’re amazing folks I played many shows with. I’m proud of what that scene has made. #sanjose

Today I’m thinking of Steven Milner, my history professor from college. He would know everyone’s name in class and could conjure the exact question he knew each person would be most (or least) prepared to answer. He was my favorite, and I am happy to say was also a low-key friend of mine on campus.

Today is the first day of black history month, where I remember the U.S. was built on the backs of enslaved black folk. Our system is still abusive to their children, and all progress now feels a bit lost. All because some white folk are losing their minds over the idea of equality.

Off topic, but #finalfantasy8 is my favorite in the series. Why? The protagonist learns how to love, how to be a good friend, and how to care about more than just himself. The plot is definitely ridiculous, but the theme is heartfelt. Thanks to my brother for this awesome shirt.

We bought two Egnater Tweaker 88 heads (one is otw) and Marshall 2x12 vertical speaker cabinets with Celestine seventy 80s. It sounds pretty good. Egnaters are very versatile tube amps that get some excellent distortion. The pair of amps will be used for The Dolltones. I’m stoked.

I am a wildfire victim. Ten years ago, a fire burned through a forest where I was staying with friends and it did something to me. As I breathed those pine tree fumes, it stayed in me like sand stuck in your shoe that you’ll never shake out. For better or worse, I moved East for the rain.

I used to go by my first name, but now I go by my middle name. I always wanted to change it, but it felt selfish. Even now, I often get others asking me, “isn’t your real name…” Nah, my real name is Abe. Real in every sense of it. Just not my first name or what I used to go by. I like Abe. It’s me.
