One of the most impactful PD's I have ever had was as a student teacher. We went to a training about dyslexia and it was through the eyes of someone with dyslexia. It was impactful because they had do things to see how it would be for someone with dyslexia. #EDSI6321

Yes I agree giving teachers a voice in what they are learning would increase their participation for sure! #EDSI6321

I agree, as a math teacher I do not want/need to sit through a training about reading!

I think celebrating teachers using the strategies is a great way to motivate other teachers to try them too!

I love this idea!! Do you do this at your campus?

Obviously an increase in pay but as a teacher I would honestly take smaller class sizes and more planning time too!

Obviously, teachers want the raises...but honestly, if my class sizes were smaller and the testing expectations did not add to the extra pressure, then that would motivate a lot of teachers to stay, I think! #EDSI6321

I think focusing on student growth rather than traditional standardized tests, where all students are expected to reach the same outcomes, is a great place to start! #EDSI6321

one thing that I have started doing this year that I have noticed has really helped with my 5th and 6th graders is instead of getting on to students who are not doing what they are supposed to be I started praising the students who are. It has really changed my classroom management! #EDSI6321

I would love for the focus of school's to be on individualized student growth rather than standardized tests! #EDSI6132

As a teacher, I think one change in school leadership or classroom support that would make a big difference in teacher retention is to cut out all the "check the boxes" tasks. For example, don't make us turn in elaborate lesson plans if you are not even going to look at them...this happens A LOT!
