'Yr Hen Dŷ Injan - The Old Engine House' My favourite photo of the week comes from The British, Abersychan. I photograph this old engine house frequently. Something about the light that fits with the age of this building, evocative of another age.

'Diwedd mis Medi - End of September' What a lovely September day and just beautiful along the old tramroad that winds its way through the heart of The Lasgarn Woodland in Abersychan. It never ceases to amaze me that this path was an industrial route created for the transport of limestone.

'Gwynt, Glaw a Haul - Wind, Rain and Sun' Well the day had it all today and when the sun broke through the clouds at Garnddyrys, just below The Keeper's Pond, Blaenavon this afternoon it was just glorious. Enjoying the moment in between the wind and rain. Have a lovely weekend all.

'Y dirwedd hon - This landscape' One of the most intriguing views to be found locally at Garnddyrys, just below the Keeper's Pond, Blaenavon. Poised like a sphinx, but surprisingly formed from industrial waste left when the old iron forge was dismantled. Dramatic this afternoon.

It's a bit of an iconic tree for me, perhaps because of its shape or because it stands on its own, it owns the landscape.

'Y dirwedd arw hon - This rugged landscape' Well it's been a week of weather this week, but in between the downpours there have still been magical moments. Here are two views, looking down the valley, either side of the same tree, taken quite near the Keeper's Pond, Blaenavon on Thursday afternoon.

'Golygfa ar hyd yr Hen Ffordd Chwarel - View along the Old Quarry Road' My favourite photograph this week, taken at Tyla Quarry, Pwlldu, Blaenavon on Friday evening. It reminded me so much of the layers within a fine Japanese print, with delicate, watery blue hues in the sky.

'Mynydd Pen-y-fâl - The Sugar Loaf Mountain' A grand view of Sugar Loaf this afternoon from Garnddyrys, just below the Keeper's Pond, Blaenavon. The sky had more than a touch of Cézanne about it - just glorious.

Hidden within the heart of the tips the old workings are laid bare and what fills your eyes is both stark and uncompromising, probably the closest that I can imagine to a desolate moonscape ✍️Tom Maloney wp.me/p8Mk4U-14G8

Yep - just across the road from Garnddyrys Forge - but like you I am a little uncertain about whether this is the ruin of the Queen Victoria as I see no evidence of a cellar. It's a bit of an enigma.

'Golygfa o'r drws blaen - View from the front door' - It's been many a year since someone lived in this dwelling alongside the Hill's Tram Road, just below The Keeper's Pond, Blaenavon, but this view from what would have been the front door remains magnificent. So evocative on many levels.

'Harddwch y Grug - The Beauty of Heather' And all the more beautiful when it doing such a grand job of reclaiming of old industrial waste at Varteg, near Abersychan. This lovely view had a touch of Casper David Friedrich about it in the soft, early evening light.

'Lle roedd y trenau glo yn arfer rhedeg - Where the coal trains used to run' Hard to believe that this was a railway lined used to carry coal freight, but this beautiful path at The British, Abersychan has such a feel of a landscape painting by Monet now!

'Y Gerddi Americanaidd - The American Gardens' A picture postcard view of the American Gardens at Pontypool Park this week, even though the water level in the pond was as low as I have ever seen it. Just a short walk here and it fills your heart with joy.

'Dau Ddiwrnod ym mis Gorffennaf - Two Days in July' and how different the mood. Along the Mon & Brec Canal yesterday afternoon Close to Bridge 56, Pontypool and rapidly changing weather across the big landscape view from Garnddyrys, near Blaenavon early afternoon today.

'Hanes Cudd yn y Tir - Hidden History in the Land' The red brick building in the middle distance is not a house, but was once the winding house for the Red Ash Colliery at Cwmsychan. Just below it are coal tips, that are hardly recognisable now. Cymsychan is such an amazing landscape.

'Pyllau golau - Light Pools' Light pools along the old railway line just a little way up from Garndiffaith Viaduct this morning. The scene reminded me of the masterful work of Monet in capturing light. Hard to believe that the last trains used on this line carried coal.

'Gorffennaf yn dechrau - July begins' Broom caught in the glow of a lovely July evening at The British, with the seed pods absolutely 'popping' in the warmth of the Sun.

'Blodau yng nghanol yr adfeilion - Flowers amidst the ruins' Foxgloves at the ruins of the old British Ironworks Reservoir, Cwmsychan and a photo taken earlier in the week of Foxgloves growing in the midst of iron slag that still remains at the site of the British Ironworks, Abersychan.

'Lle arbennig - A special Place' My favourite photo this week from 'The British', Abersychan. This old industrial site where once iron was the master and coal was the king just gets better with every year. Nature has really transformed this site into something very special.

'Tirwedd yr Haf - Summer Landscape' A view of Summer along the Mon & Brec Canal just a little beyond Cemetery Bridge 53, Pontypool. This is a favourite view for me, whatever the Season. The second photo was taken in the same location in February of this year.

'Ar ôl y glaw - After the rain' A welcome chance to get out in late afternoon at The British, Abersychan after heavy rain was rewarded with the beauty of these Oxeye daisies waving like a crowd, you could almost hear them cheer! How this old industrial site has transformed.

'Tywydd gwyntog a heulog a gwyrdd ym mhobman - Windy and sunny weather and green everywhere' My favourite photo of the week. View at Cwmbyrgwm, The British, Abersychan looking towards the Pant Glas Slip. The landscape is looking so green now.
