This reminds me so much of Van Gogh's Starry Night Over the Rhone.

I'd been knocking on @psalteryandlyre.bsky.social 's door for a long time, and I was so honored that they chose to publish "Sea Glass, Yellow Basket" -- my 2nd BotN nom is just the icing on the cake. Thanks to Millie and her team! You can read it here:

I'm very excited to have some of my pottery featured with Lover's Eye Press, in a special folio celebrating David Lynch.

This is what ICE does to unarmed, traumatized civilians not in their custody and posing no physical threat. Now imagine what they do to detained immigrants.

I was back at 26 Federal Plaza today, where an ICE agent violently threw this bereft woman to the ground in front of her kids. She had not touched him. She did not pose any threat. She had to be taken to the hospital. (🎥: Elias Eliahu)

This poem would have made a perfect epigraph for The Last Analog Teenagers! Love this BotN-nominated piece by @maudiemichelle.com

And here's the poem. 🥰
A black background with white text of a poem titled "Millennium Girl." The poem reads:

“A pop song, bath oil beads,
butterfly hair-clips,
candied dreams—
Hope was a dELiAs* catalog,
blow-up furniture,
wide-legged jeans.

Reality, a monthly bleed,
essential needs,
worn-out tunes, split seams,
rent-to-own, hand-me-downs.
Molded by what
I couldn’t consume.”

So glad this piece landed with @reckonreview.bsky.social -- I've admired both their literary publications and their terrific Wind and Root columns for a while now.

Just finished Ethan Hawke and Me by @andrewbertaina.bsky.social and really enjoyed it. Tackles tough topics with honesty but hard-earned hope while taking a rich stroll through the lovely Before films.

As a fellow '90s teen, this piece gave such lovely and sad chills. @pleomorphic2.bsky.social captured how this album felt so perfectly.

@nffr.bsky.social had a call on the theme “Ten”. I was a teen in the 90s. Only one thing came to mind. Thanks for reading 🙏🏾 newflashfiction.com/i-know-somed...

Conventional wisdom recommends against reading one's own reviews, and while I strenuously avoided doing so for my mental health, I am not sure if you can be a self-promoting indie author and keep it up indefinitely. (This is to say, review thread incoming.)

At the top of the page is a drawing of a pile of skulls. Underneath is today’s date: September 4, 2025. Then the title of the story and the name of the author: Our second date was meant to be unconventional and unromantic by Anna Vangala Jones.
Below that is the text of the story: —we thought we were funny when we suggested meeting at the laundromat because we bonded on the first date about putting it off so long we'd almost reached the bathing suits as underwear stage. But when he called to cancel, I worried I should have held onto my mystique a bit longer and not revealed the lazy mess lurking beneath my put together surface yet. "It's not that," he said. "I have to go to a funeral." After I told him how sorry I was, he said, "Want to come?" I joked, "It's too soon but take me to the next one." I appreciated the earnest vulnerability of his response that he could use the company so I said yes. My friends teased me that we'd only been on one date so maybe he was a serial killer and we would be going to my funeral. Weird how we cope with the possibility of being murdered every time we meet someone new by laughing about how hilarious it'll be if it happens, but it's preferable to being paralyzed by it. "He loves Bruce Springsteen, so he can't be that bad," I told them. The funeral was for his lifelong friend—they had first met at only five years old—so it was of course sad. We held hands as they lowered the casket. After everyone else left, we wandered the cemetery chatting about everything and nothing like we were at a coffee shop and he kissed me in front of a tombstone that read, "Beloved and remembered. Until we meet again." He ghosted me after that. When I listen to Bruce at the laundromat, I wonder why our first and last kiss happened amidst graves and death and almost write him to ask. But maybe it's better not to know.
