“Sane republicans”?

Ok

If you recall,Obama won while being anti-gay marriage, and maintained that position until public opinion changed and it was safe for him to say “his views had changed”.

All day long! You’ll get no argument from me there, but that’s not the discussion at hand.
June 6, 2025 at 6:53 PM
But like Clinton, republicans have spent years vilifying and building a caricature of AOC that is nothing like the real candidate. Can that be overcome? Time will tell I suppose..
June 6, 2025 at 6:52 PM
Will concede all of that. And if AOC makes it through that process will wholeheartedly support her.
June 6, 2025 at 6:50 PM
Specifically a straight old white man with obvious flaws beat Trump when two more obviously qualified female candidates could not. So by all means, accuse me of being a centrist (I’m not), but also understand that the best way to predict future behavior is to look at past behavior.
June 6, 2025 at 6:47 PM
Guys I like AOC and think she has a great future as one of our party’s leaders. But I also watched a flawed, elderly centrist like Biden beat Trump when two more capable female candidates could not. I really don’t want repeat those mistakes with so much on the line.
June 6, 2025 at 6:24 PM
Not trying to be argumentative, but again, it sounds like you’re arguing that NO dem candidate could have won. Or am I missing your point?
June 6, 2025 at 6:16 PM
NO MAGA voters would have changed their minds, certainly. But enough independents broke for Trump and that group is who we might have had a better chance with a more Biden-esque candidate. There’s a reason Biden (who had a ton of flaws as a candidate the first time) was able to win.
June 6, 2025 at 6:14 PM
So if I understand you correctly, NO democratic candidate would have been the safer choice because the majority willingly voted for Trump?
June 6, 2025 at 6:11 PM
In the face of Clinton and Harris both losing to someone who shouldn’t have been able to win election as a dog catcher, I’m going to say a male candidate is safer. Flame away, but would like to hear your definition of safer as well..
June 6, 2025 at 6:08 PM
Kerry ran against Trump?
June 6, 2025 at 6:03 PM
The best way to fight injustice is to stop ceding Presidential power by hoping America catches up to our best ideals. That a clearly insane candidate like Trump was
more preferable than two qualified women tells me we need to go a safer route in 2026.

Ok strongly worded letters it is! You win.
April 28, 2025 at 12:29 AM
Correct. Why it’s even more important that we stop bringing knives to gunfights. The road to hell is paved with sternly worded letters.
April 27, 2025 at 11:14 PM
Grind government to a halt. Anything else should be considered capitulation.
April 27, 2025 at 7:30 PM
Maybe pull the Dems together and for starters, stop voting to confirm Trump nominees. Mitch McConnell figured out how to grind the work of the senate to a halt even when republicans weren’t in power. Schumer should do the same and stop using “business as usual” tactics.
