anyway. i haven't made significant progress on writing anything new and I've been incredibly depressed, fatigued, repeatedly ill, and swamped with work, but i do want the website to stay up because it (i assume?) brings a small amount of people happiness :)

in the case of certificates though there's nothing you can do, they just give you the text you copy and paste where it needs to go (and webhosts just do that too) and everything else is "wait some weird amount of time for it to work" or "complain if it seems you've waited and it isn't working yet."

part of me wants to uphold an ethos of "personal websites you make yourself can't possibly have 24/7 uptime and a website going down should be viewed as a tolerable inevitability in such a setting" but the part of me that worked in tech goes "if i can't fix it right now i'll start eating people"

never let anyone convince you otherwise: complaining works.

security certificates have been the single biggest pain in the ass of doing website nothing else remotely compares. oh well its not like i was doing anything with my website recently TEE HEE. i've put in a support ticket with my webhost and hopefully we'll work this out before long.
