A Boy And His Cat
@aboyandhiscat01.bsky.social
Not to be confused with the movie "A Boy and His Dog" but I am the one who opens the cans of cat food for the cats. My cats are telepathic though and often smarter than me. Into cats and science fiction. I reply and repost more than I post here.

In the original 1979 Alien movie, after the alien killed the entire crew of the Nostromo, there were only two survivors, Ripley and her cat Jones. This was no coincidence. Remember the scene before the alien attacks Brett and Jones hisses at the alien. The cat was always a step ahead.
As we are approaching the shortest day of the year, the cat's winter coat seems to be reaching its' floofiest.

The days are getting shorter and the cat seems to be sleeping longer...

Not much hair in the comb today either. Is it going to be a cold winter?

There is hardly any hair in the comb now whenever I comb the cat. Winter must be on t he way...

There are lots of leaves down now and last night it was windy. The cat had an exiting night looking outside.

It is starting to look like fall. The leaves are turning and starting to come down. The cat has stopped shedding and is starting to put on her winter coat.

Today, I ordered a new pair of Merrell Moabs. I have been wearing them for over 20 years (not the same pair) because they fit my feet very well. They are made in China and imported from Canada. With Trump's tariffs, then went up 40 percent in price. Another reason why I hate Trump. There are many!

Today, after being stuck at home with an extended illness, I finally made it to Petsmart and bought many cans of cat food, after having not done so for 3 weeks. The cupboards were almost bare. I think that the cat is more interested in me playing with her more again than seeing all the cans.

I have 2 old cat toys that are basically a wand with 2 feet of heavy 1/4 inch string that once had a toy attached with a knot at the end. My former cat separated the toys from the string years ago so I stopped using these toys. My current cat absolutely loves playing with the string as is.

The cat had her first encounter with a 5 year old kid today. She watched from the top of the stairs and never came down. Maybe next time will be better...

It has been a very, very busy week and I have not given my cat the time that she deserves. I will make up for that on #Caturday .

Lliy wanted the new box and the chair was just in the way.
You know, I thought maybe Lily is old enough now not to destroy a chair if I got myself a new one.
The reality: she was already inside the box trying to tear it apart before I even put it together

This year's Fourth of July was surprisingly quiet with very few fireworks so the cat sat in the window for much of the evening.

Finally, after several months of shortages, Petsmart had all the wet cat food formulas that I needed that have chicken as a top 3 ingredient. I have heard that the bird-flu is now over.

My cat prefers to sit in front of the monitor so that she can block the lower third of it until she gets enough pets to leave. She has her human well trained.
When I say cat on keyboard I mean cat on keyboard.

It's hot outside. The cat is shedding a lot again inside. Lots of combing to do!

Another short piece by Tom Nichols that is worth reading.
Senior officers of the United States military have an obligation to speak up and be leaders. Where is the Army chief of staff? Will he or others speak truth to the commander in chief and put a stop to the assault on the integrity of his troops? www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

Trump is hopeless when it comes to Putin - whom he both fears and admires as the Renfield to Putin's Dracula - but he has no effective national security or defense team around him to pick up the slack and actually run anything like an actual foreign policy.
