I would say yes. They have a long shelf life, whereas fruit and veg need using fairly soon. The food is generally distributed to the ‘needy’ and a tin keeps til needed. It is lovely to see a harvest loaf and some fruit displayed, but any kind of food is welcomed, whether preserved, dried or tinned.
