Some of us women of different colors have also been paying attention and are also tired. I am 48 and this is the America I have known all my life. You're so right about performative ignorance and it wears me out.

I can't even stand to read it, I'm so nauseated (yes, I'm American), but I wonder if they're going to say that it inspired the French Rev & thus others? When in fact the French helped the Am Rev happen. Blech.

It's the useful contrary-to-fact subjunctive. Students love it. "If I were you" WHICH I'M NOT. Explain it that way & they eat it up.

A deer ran into my mother once on a 4-lane hwy. Mother was going 55 mph and the deer just ran into her on the driver's side. Broke door & shattered window. Deer have very small brains.
