Get ready to doot your problems away with our first spooky creation of the season! We've got a lot more coming and can't wait to share them with you.

Follow us if you dig fresh, new magic items every week!
TromBone
Musical Instrument, Rare

The macabre form of this functioning trombone is composed entirely of malformed bones that are fused together in disturbing and offputting ways. The bell is composed of a long since decomposed skull that seems to always be screaming. Despite its ghastly appearance, this piece is a fully functional musical instrument able to be played by anyone with proficiency.

Twice per day, you can use an action to play a short tune on this instrument causing two illusory skeletal figures carrying similar instruments to emerge from the ground occupying your same space. The skeletons begin to dance around you and play an oddly upbeat melody for 1 minute. The skeletons move with you when you move and cannot be targeted by spells or attacks.

While at least one skeleton is present and dancing around you, you gain a new reaction. When you are targeted by a weapon attack, but before you know the results of the roll, you can use your reaction to cause one of the skeletal beings to jump in front of the attack. The attack hits them instead of you causing the skeleton to crumble into a pile of dust before disappearing. These abilities reset daily at dawn.

Damage, healing, all in one vampire wrapped package. I think it's just the kind of thing everyone should have in their kit for your spooky adventures this month.

Get this and 200+ other items ready for your #DnD games on our Patreon. patreon.com/abyssalbrews
Sanguisuge
Wondrous item, very rare (requires attunement)

The path to righteousness has many branches. Some lead to great power at the expense of what you hold dear. This item has a number of dark black and red beads that seem to be made of inky stone. The symbol that hangs from it is unfamiliar and gripping it causes thoughts of violence to race through your mind. This item can be used as a spellcasting focus.

While attuned to Sanguisuge, you can alter any spell you cast to change its damage type to necrotic. This also alters the appearance of your spells in various ways to make them look unnatural and unsettling. A fireball may explode in green and black flame for example.

Sacrifice. When you cast a spell that deals necrotic damage to a creature, you can choose to take the same amount of necrotic damage which cannot be mitigated in any way. When you do so, choose another creature within 30 feet that you can see. That creature regains hit points equal to twice the damage you took. You can use this feature a number of times per day equal to your proficiency bonus.

Sometimes all you need is a little more time. Thankfully this little locket can give it to you, at least in your #DnD games. Sorry I haven't figured out time stoppage IRL yet.

Wondrous Item, Rare

A winding metal chain supports a pendant, round in shape and covered in ancient runes in a language that has long-since been lost to time. The idle of this pendant is a blown glass tube that has no end or beginning. Within it, sparkling grains of sand sit suspended. A single metal rod runs through the center allowing the piece to be spun like an hourglass, though no sand moves when it’s inverted.

This magical amulet has 8 charges for use with the abilities below. When you spend a charge, some of the sand moves to the other side of the hourglass showing the remaining charges. It regains 1d6+2 charges at dawn.

Hastened Strike (1 charge). You can expend a charge when you make a weapon or spell attack to cause the weapon or spell to move much faster than expected. This attack gains a +1 bonus to its attack roll.

A Moment Suspended (5 charges). You can use your reaction when targeted by a weapon or spell attack, but before the attack roll is made, to temporarily pause the world around you. Time stops for everyone besides you. You can then move up to 15 feet without provoking attacks of opportunity. Time resumes at the end of your movement. If you end your movement in a different space than where you started, the attack that triggered this reaction misses.

I woke up and was sad that it was Monday, then I remembered I'm on vacation this week and was totally fine that it was Monday.

I have already processed more emotions than I would like at this time in the AM 😅

Honestly, I expect that the window is bigger than we think. We're just sometimes held back by inhibitions.

Start the thing that you've been thinking about and give it a real try. Your 30s are a great time to reinvent what you're about. You have enough experience to avoid the pitfalls while still having enough energy to push a bit harder.

It's the perfect time to just try the thing.

I get to run Pathfinder tonight and my party just came across some caravan guards in a river that burst into viney monstrous beings!

The squishy witch is the one in front there. I'm sure it's going to go well. (Thanks to @tomcartos.bsky.social for the awesome battle map)

This night, you'll be haunted by three spirits.

They're all spooky (and probably a little gay).

Got a mega edge-lord in your campaigns? Well now you can introduce the true lord of edges. Give them this cloak to make for a very pointed exchange!

We're all about making inventive items for your #DnD campaigns. patreon.com/abyssalbrews to get all the goods!
Cloak of Daggers
Wondrous item, rare (requires attunement by a rogue)

A foreboding cloak that has many sharp edges available at a moment’s notice. There is very little that is subtle about the appearance of this cloak. It’s made for the utility of those that do their best not to be seen in the first place. One thing is for sure, while you’re wearing one of these, the tools of a rogue’s brutal trade are never far away.

While attuned to this cloak, you can retrieve a spectral dagger from it at any time during your turn. You can do this a number of times per day equal to your proficiency bonus. Spectral daggers grant a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with them. These spectral daggers stay magically stuck in enemies when you hit with an attack with them and cannot be removed until they vanish 10 minutes later.

While wearing this cloak you can use an action to spin in place, whirling the daggers on the bottom of the cloak outward. All creatures within 5 feet of you must make a DC 14 Dexterity saving throw taking 1d4+1 magical piercing damage on a failed save and half as much on a successful one. If a creature has one of your spectral daggers stuck in them, they also take magical piercing damage equal to your sneak attack damage and the spectral dagger then vanishes.
