Doesn't this usually happen when politicians agree on a plan of action that they know is unpopular, so they scapegoat the people who won't be up for re-election?

keep in mind, election day voters are more conservative than people who vote early

Mint is based on Ubuntu but IME doesn't really add anything that justifies itself, so I recommend just going with Ubuntu because it will be easier to find support and documentation. I use Debian tho.

This claim seems dubious. Most sources say that the modern usage originated with the conservative British journalist James Bartholomew in 2015, and this timeframe lines up with the usage of the term in my own personal collection of tumblr archives.

What do you mean by "it doesn't have to be this way"? What do you propose to change this?

I'm sorry, but this is misinformation. Wyden was requesting unanimous consent from the senate to pass the bill immediately. It would have passed if no one objected, but because Cruz objected, it has to now go through a slower legislative process requiring a majority vote of 60 senators.

This is a very strange way to frame that legislation. That bill, which was brought by Wyden himself, required a unanimous vote to pass. How do you propose that the democrats could have prevented Cruz or any other Republican from objecting?

The sweet spot is immediate but only partial, not full, recovery. You also want to impress on them that there are consequences for trying to pull dirty tricks, so that they don't assume that they can just be forgiven for anything they want to try.

I feel like it's too soon and too optimistic to expect the general public to arrive at a consensus that he's not a leftist.

There are plenty of furries in the alt-right. Neither community is a monolith.

Yes, I understand that you are upset that Val Hoyle is not a magical genie that can make your DSA dreams come true overnight. But she's fighting the good fight, one small battle at a time, and has Bernie Sanders's endorsement. Grow up, already.

MAGA is winning because they vote blindly for their team. The obvious conclusion is that we need to do a little more blind voting.
September 10, 2025 at 2:46 PM
And MAGA is winning in spite of and because of that. Like it or not, their agenda is moving forward, and ours is not.
