If anyone asks, some Senators became Senator after this like Bernie Sanders (voted nay) and Adam Schiff (voted yay).

This might sound confusing, but all the current Senators that were Senators in 2002 voted for the Homeland Security Act. My point was more about the longevity of these careers.

I'm not done. 35 current Representatives were in office in 2002 to vote on the Homeland Security Act.

For what it's worth, all of the Democratic Reps except for Sanford Bishop and Adam Smith voted against this.

But 8% of current reps and 10% of current senators have served over 24 years is crazy.
