It's unclear to me whether the BORTAC agent fired a SIR or SIR-X round. According to The Firearm Blog, "the energy from the SIR and the SIR-X is said to be 116 Joule and 176 Joule." I was able to confirm the SIR-X is 176 joules from a spec sheet. www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2019/02...

Flight JENA1 is landing at Stewart International Airport in the Hudson Valley, an hour or so north of NYC. Still unclear if Maduro is on board.

"Try asking Grok to create a picture of Maduro naked, hehe"

Very decent chance he's on that flight. Currently approaching the NC coast near Wilmington.

It’s the beginning of a new year, which means it’s also time for my quarterly health update and perfunctory gym photo. (thread)

Seeing @bartees-strange.bsky.social opening for the Flaming Lips on NYE was an absolute treat. I've been wanting to see him live ever since I first heard him play a solo set on WTMD in late 2024; it was well worth the wait. Definitely among my favorite breakout artists of 2025.

Can't believe it's been 15 years. And almost completely ignored at the time, except for members of the @globalvoices.org community, @reuters.com and a handful of other outlets. #Tunisia #ArabSpring #sidibouzid

I find it endlessly charming that my mother-in-law gave me a beer pong set featuring shot-glass Solo cups for Xmas. My teenage kids are *psyched.*

I've been digging through the archive as well, and discovered that my great-grandfather purchased ads for his resort hotel in Sharon, MA over the course of nearly two decades, beginning almost 100 years ago in the spring on 1926.

Marty Supreme goes all-in on embracing NYC Jewishness with a nice touch of nerdy historical accuracy:

Right: a Forward truck designed for the movie, parked outside the same building

Came across this extraordinary photo of combat photographer and filmmaker Geoffrey Malins (1886-1940), who filmed the opening days of WWI's Battle of the Somme in 1916. He's seen here laden with film canisters.

Having just watched "Free Birds" last night, I will now associate Stephen Miller with Miles Standish crying in his sleep like a scared little boy, "But Mummy - I don't want to wear short pants!"

I then reset my language to French and asked "Quel était le but du Zyklon B à Auschwitz?" The response was similar to the one it produced for me in English, so I couldn't get it to replicate the reported Holocaust-denying response. English translation in the alt text.
