I am pleased to see @theonion.com in print. @bencollins.bsky.social thank you for providing a print edition of a paper so that your ground team can prove what day it is. They even recreated the best use of all papers, which is looking distressed and holding a copy of a newspaper with the date on it.

Greetings! I’m on the campus of UCLA, where several dozen are protesting in support of Palestine: some holding poppies and roses. A few carrying a mock coffin.

Large police presence, and administration has given some warnings that they can’t block the area.

Please read the article, boost, subscribe, etc. I’m still trying to grow The Ten Four as much as I can and even if you free subscribe it helps immensely.

Hey everyone! Some personal things got in the way but the Ten Four is back to regular programming starting Monday.

Journalism is hard, and life is hard in general but especially hard when you’re a journalist. Thanks.

Los Angeles, CA -

The protest is seeming to wrap up. A few women are sharing tea; the sage was harvested from the West Bank according to the woman offering.

She told me she brought it to “share the culture and heritage of Gaza.”

The sage, she says, is “a sign of resistance.”

Los Angeles, CA -

Briefly during a pro-Palestine protest, an LAPD cruiser blocked by several protesters. Others in the march told the several people blocking to move out of the way. March is a few blocks away from the Wilshire Federal building now.

This particular protest wrapping up. The live band played La Chona upon request, began driving away through Little Tokyo. Picking up some stray people dancing as they go.

The anti-ICE March has stopped at 1st and Central; live music playing and quite a few people sticking around to dance.

Greetings! I’m here at an anti-deportation rally in Los Angeles, CA. About 300 people here, many belong to unions and immigrant rights advocates. March started on the 6th street bridge and moving ostensibly towards DTLA.

El Segundo, CA -

An explosion and flames erupting at a Chevron refinery in El Segundo. Shelter-in-place orders were in effect nearby for several hours. The cause of the fire remains unclear currently.

Some folks living nearby watched the flames erupt in a break in the fence atop their vehicle.

Los Angeles, CA -

The intersection of Granville and Wilshire is blocked off by protesters. LAPD Officers arching from a distance and turning traffic away from the intersection.

Of note, there is at least one man here who is a well known right wing agitator and largely identified with anti-LGBT activism as well neo-Nazi comments.

He told me ““Im here for the children, the babies. Fuck Israel, and Azerbaijan and Turkey too.”

Greetings! I’m here covering a protest against the Israeli Consulate in Los Angeles. I’d say there’s about 50-75 people here.

I was a touch late and there was a small confrontation with what appear to be counter protesters as I arrived, I didn’t see the lead up.

Me: hey I’m kinda sad, I wonder if a Polish horror film about the experience of bona fides being ignored as a woman, the distrust of orthodox communities in Eastern Europe towards outsiders and mental illness will help.

Ok October starts soon, watching (at least) one film per day. Starting with I Saw The Devil.

Like… do people want a quick write up/review of each movie? Is that a thing people would like?

Anyways, if Mister Rogers could learn how to breakdance we can all learn how to not be dicks to people we don’t like on the internet. Rant done.

Making fun of someone’s big box clothes isn’t class solidarity. Making fun of someone’s disability or whether or not they went to college is dumb, mean, counterproductive and makes you a bad person.

There’s enough shittiness out there in this world, why do people insist on contributing to it
