In 1983, he co-founded the World Institute on Disability in Berkeley. Accessible Climate Strategies's founder & Principal Consultant Alex Ghenis (@rollonyouchairs.bsky.social) started his career on disability & climate change at WID, tackling a topic nearly unaddressed at the time. 3/4

Roberts founded the Center for Independent Living in Berkeley, which was the first of more than 400 Independent Living Centers (ILCs) in the country. ILCs support PWDs' independence nationwide, and are vital institutions for disaster planning and advocacy.
