I'm non-binary but femme, which isn't that far off from the AFAB status I was born with, but I genuinely have gone through a lot of gender "soul-searching." Started with reading Kate Bornstein's "My Gender Workbook" in my early 20s. My femininity is not a given, but a choice & rebellion for me.
