Because somehow I'm the only person who's thought that the two characters who worked for the evil organization and hold the body to the protagonists soul/heart would make for a good Death Battle.

Yeah, this ruled. It's impressive how much Retro follows-up on the ideas from Prime 3 (still need to go back and finish that and Prime 2 on the Trilogy Collection, bad habit of leaving things unfinished) after ~18 years of not working on the series.

It's probably because of their control scheme. The game has dual analog and pointer control modes, and both modes let you use mouse controls by putting one joy-con on a surface. Since I chose dual analog, it controls exactly like how you describe. And I imagine the video was set to pointer controls.
