And they're singing the Mickey Mouse theme, not Galway Bay. It's all a lie!

It's so embarrassing. All I can think about is the current south park running gag of pam bondi with shit on her nose.

And it was one of the more embarrassing things I've seen on tv for a while.

Quite. All sweetness and light.

Definitely no IRA bombing campaigns, Yorkshire ripper, consistently high inflation, constant coal and car strikes and a general air of decline.

That's without the knowledge that within 3 years you'd have an IMF bailout, the 3 day week and the winter of discontent.

Obviously he won't feel any compulsion to resign either. The hypocrisy should be unsurprising but somehow never is.

Also, admirable and worthy of note/impressive are clearly not the same things, as I'm sure he realises.

The current primary clue that someone has an right of centre to right wing agenda, is referencing the trans debate in an article that is about something totally unrelated.

No. Of course not, but if you look at the historic movement of wealth into an increasingly small number of bank accounts, something needs to be done.
It's not the whole answer, but it is definitely a big part of it.
Likewise, shifting the conversation from min wage to excessive top level salaries

And, despite being a "labour" Chancellor, and the fact that she must realise that wealth hoarding is a massive and increasing issue, she will still resist pulling any part of that lever.

The attitude very much reminds me of the Chris Morris, good AIDS vs bad AIDS, sketch. Different issue, same twisting of modalities for point scoring purposes.

Surely, if one thing can explain both MAGA/Reform's tactics and their base's fury at the mo, it's cakeism and the promise and impossibility of it as a concept.

Yes, but part of the problem is that the system allows them to get that rich in the first place.
Look at how CEO pay growth has outstripped average pay growth since the early 80's for eg.
Rather than have a steady and fair increase in net wages for all, more and more wealth gets hoarded at the top.

Yes and no. If we didn't allow a system where a tiny proportion of people could accumulate more money than they'd ever need, we could pay for a lot more than we do.

The top 20 richest people in Britain are worth about £310bn. More than they actually need, I would posit.

I fear that until we stop pretending that our aging population, and it's associated pension, health and care costs, aren't going to cost an increasing amount of money and that we already don't pay enough in tax to cover it, we're just tinkering around the edges.
