Resi planning consents peaked in 2019 and then had a brief rebound in 2021. Highest number of up-to-date local plans was in 2019 at c.50% of LPAs, now fallen to less than 30%

They broadly did until 2019/20. Then lots of further attempts at reform gave LPAs a reason to stop progressing local plans, standard method for housing need stopped being so strongly based on market signals, no one got a grip on nutrient issues and consents have since dropped off a cliff
