Happy #Pride month! This #FungiFriday we are going on a fungal foray through the pride flag. There have been many iterations since its original conception in 1978, including the Intersex-Inclusive flag by Valentino Vecchietti – which we have recreated in fungal fashion for the LGBTQ myco-maniacs

Yesterday was #WorldFrogDay but we're still thinking about it this #FungiFriday, specifically, Chytrid fungi!

The best known is Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis, a pathogen that’s a significant driver of declining amphibian populations 🐸📉

Yet this diverse group is more than its bad reputation! 🧵👇

Missing the fungal forays of Autumn? Winter and Spring offer a myriad of wonderful fungal species in their prime!

Frequently overlooked are the ascomycetes, commonly called cup fungi as they form cup-like fruiting bodies named apothecia. Here are some of our favourite species to look out for ✨🍄🧵

The cups of this genera have distinctive tiny hairs growing on the underside, and the cups themselves grow from stalks.
