Nope, not overfishing. Not all shrimp are the same. Northern shrimp are very different from those in the Gulf of Mexico. Each is adapted to a certain temperature range. Gulf of Maine shrimp are moving out of the Gulf of Maine - to Canada - because it is now too warm for them.

They are different species of shrimp. Gulf of Maine shrimp, Pandulus borealis or northern shrimp. The Gulf of Maine is - or was - its southern limit. They are abundant in Canadian waters which has an active fishery.
