Happening now: We are in court fighting the state’s unconstitutional book ban — passed as SB775 —that led to the immediate removal of hundreds of books from school libraries. We will always stand to protect student’s First Amendment right to access information.

"At the same time, he is failing to provide resources to the communities impacted by a natural disaster. These politicized actions embolden the administration in D.C. – they do not protect communities in Missouri."

“Kehoe failed to provide basic information to prepare Missourians for this unprecedented act. With the backdrop of masked ICE agents breaking apart our families & communities, it is concerning that Kehoe is asking Guard members to voluntarily participate in this agenda."

"Despite denying a deployment in Missouri just days ago, Kehoe's actions threaten people & businesses across the state & ignores the needs of the St. Louis community that is still in the midst of clean up from a devastating tornado,” said Luz María Henríquez, executive director -ACLU of Missouri.

“This law invades the private relationship between patients, their families, and their doctors, denying transgender people access to safe and effective medical care. The MO Constitution protects the autonomy, equal rights and opportunity for all people, & this law falls short of those principles.”

“Missouri’s bans violate fundamental constitutional rights that protect all Missourians,” said Nora Huppert, Senior Attorney at Lambda Legal.

"In addition to ignoring the consensus of established medical associations and evidence-based findings, this law strips parents and families from making private decisions with their doctors and gives the government the final say in who will receive care and what type of treatments."

"Missouri's discriminatory ban singles out and denies transgender people access to lifesaving medical care in violation of their constitutional rights," said Gillian Wilcox, Director of Litigation at the ACLU of Missouri.

Today in the Missouri Supreme Court,  we joined our friends @lambdaLegal to fight a discriminatory ban that prevents Trans Youth from accessing care only because of their transgender status.

See you in court, Governor Kehoe.

Abortion care remains available in Missouri

We stood with Planned Parenthood to defend abortion access from the Gov's handpicked Attorney General. The AG continued her predecessor's efforts to overturn the will of the people.

We asked the court to block the ban on medication abortion care.

Breaking: With our friends at PPGreatPlains and @ppgreatrivers.bsky.social, we are defending the voter-approved constitutional amendment in two separate courts against the unelected Attorney General's attempt to reinstate the total abortion ban while we demand access to medication abortion care.

"That all political power is vested in and derived from the people; that all government of right originates from the people, is founded upon their will only, and is instituted solely for the good of the whole."

Politicians in our state are gathering to silence Missourians by gutting the citizen ballot measures and illegally gerrymandering Kansas City at the request of elites in Washington D.C.

Join the fight to stop politicians from silencing Missourians.

As Gov. Kehoe, President Pro Tem O'Laughlin, & Speaker Patterson cower to demands from Washington D.C. to further gerrymander our state, Missourians will be left with diminished representation, disenfranchisement, & more divisive politics. This power grab to subvert democracy is wrong for Missouri.

Abortion Rights Update: we are in court fighting to preserve our right to reproductive freedom by asking the judge to rule Amendment 3, passed as HJR73, as unconstitutional and prevent it from appearing on a ballot or to give Missourians fair and accurate ballot language.

We recommend that legislators and school districts ban the use of violence and exclusion, and embrace de-escalation practices that aim to keep students in school. Read our full report of findings and recommendations at www.aclu-mo.org/sites/defaul...

An overreliance on corporal punishment & expulsion has put the most vulnerable members of our community, our children, on a collision course with law enforcement and the school-to-prison pipeline while denying them the expectation that all children deserve an equal chance to receive an education.

Breaking: A Jackson county judge issued a new preliminary injunction again blocking Missouri's abortion ban and several restrictions clearing the way for Planned Parenthood to provide procedural abortion care.

"The vote last November was historic, offering a fierce rebuke of Republican state lawmakers who had spent decades restricting access. The constitutional amendment overturned a near-total ban that was enacted in 2022 after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade."
