A #WOSO fan sharing data on ACL injuries in women's football.
Trying to raise awareness on the issue & prevention programs.

Not active much here yet, but starting to.
Sorry I just saw your reply.
For Loera it was indeed the same knee. Not the case for every player who had 2 ACL injuries in my list.
Don't know healing wise, but mentally I guess it's probably tougher when it's both knees. But I'm just guessing. It probably depends on the player too.

not be good for players: flying across the USA every week might not be the best way to rest between games.

But it could also just be that it's the league where it's easier to find out about the ACL injuries because of the mandatory injury reports.

I've compared the leagues with the most ACL injuries a few months ago over Twitter. I've done it for the September to May leagues and the "annual" ones (with the Liga MX in the wrong category, I realized it later). Here are the global numbers and ratios:

Oh and even without a ball given the amount of news I see about ACL injuries in gymnastics and wrestling for example.

And there's Aubrey Plaza's case who surprised a lot of people.

Well, I've seen news of coaches, at least one referee and a club's president getting an ACL injury (although: mostly men) so I'm not surprised anymore 😂

It is, yeah 😟

At least you didn't get confused about the actress with the same name 😆

The usual numbers from research say that it's 2 to 8 times higher in WOSO.

And lastly, a closer look to the National Team players.

195 ACL injuries happened to players with National Team experience (at least one cap) between January 2022 and December 2024.

Some of these players don't play with their NT anymore.

And now, the 197 ACL injuries in 2024, with 63 additions since September (last list posted):

Some of the "big" names added:
