A thread titled: Lorwyn - a new plane? Post text from MORT (Ashtok): Wizards announced the new set: Lorwyn. First thought is that it's a new plane (because what else it could be?). The annual DCI meeting includes a floor rules change where players can no longer ask their opponents to desleeve their decks.

"The ramifications of this are apparent. Worn cards are now allowed and not considered marked."
The first would be the interpretation of stalling. The new definition would be that a player has to play at a pace to finish the game on time. This means that a player can not play slow at the first, middle, or later stages of the game. Andrew Finch you can play a slow deck but can not play it slowly. This is all up to the Judges to interpret. The second item was a change in the card sleeve rule. As of September 1st a player will no longer be allowed to ask an opponent to de sleeve. The ramifications of this are apparent. Worn cards are now allowed and not considered marked. Alpha cards are up in the air and the official stance on these will be announced August 1st. The Tommy Hovi rule is still being considered, i.e. a player can force an opponent to sleeve. This will not take effect this year. Part two of the meeting will be written later this week. The main focus of this discussion was the lap dance that Mike Long had with his Cadaverous Bloom.

Now, you are probably wondering "Where did Urza come from?", "Why did Crovax attempt to sabotage the Weatherlight?", "What is the 'Great Secret of Rath'?", and "Why is Ertai a stupid 1/1?". The answers are as follows: 1) Only Pete Venters knows. 2) He lost all his humanity and went insane. Wouldn't you do something really stupid if you were insane? 3) You can't tell from the storyline? Join the club. 4) Ah, another thing in that ever growing list of things that the Research and Development (R&D;) do for no reason. I mean, what would you rather do, attack for one damage or save up enough mana to counterspell with him? And, with that, I leave you to keep in mind what lies next, in the Weatherlight Saga, for the appropriately named set, Urza's Saga™.

Greetings, For those of you who don't already know me, I am Peter Adkison, the janitor (and president) at Wizards of the Coast. My wife Cathleen and I are planning on a road trip in the Western US in early August, combining pleasure and business. Our main goal from a business perspective is to run demos of a new game WotC is coming out with this summer that we think will be our hottest product ever. Our current proposed schedule of demo games is as follows: 8/2 Portland, Oregon 8/3 Eugene, Oregon 8/4 Grants Pass, Oregon 8/5 Redding, Oregon 8/6 Sacramento, California 8/7 San Francisco, California 8/8 Fresno, California 8/9 Bakersfield, California 8/10 Los Angelas, California 8/11 San Diego, California 8/12 8/13 Pheonix, Arizona 8/14 8/15 Albuquerque, New Mexico 8/16 Colorado Springs, Colorado Some of this is flexible depending on feedback we get. The hard data points are that we can't leave before the 2nd of August, and I have to be back to Seattle by the morning of the 18th of August to fly to The GenCon Game Faire. I want to spend some time in Pheonix with my relatives, and in Colorado Springs with an old friend and some of my wife's relatives. We were thinking of driving down the west coast and then swinging up around to Colorado Springs, and then fly home from Denver. What I'm looking for are two things: * Ideas of places to crash along the way, since we'd like to minimize hotel costs. KOA's, rest areas with shower facilities, etc. * Suggestions of retail stores for demo sites. We can do one demo in each city, but we have no idea what stores are in each place. If you have a suggestion please include the address and/or phone number of the store.
