Agreed - I’m not anti automation even if my first post gave that impression. I think automation presents society with opportunities but the point is that society needs to find ways of leaving people behind. The direction of travel suggests it will in greater numbers in my opinion

increased living standards etc isn’t universal and the fact is that for many living itself depends on charity such as food banks and state help through the welfare system. Hence an issue with unfettered pure capitalism. These people are not economically useful. What for them?

Unfettered capitalism only works for people when they are useful for business and then only for some people. Automation, AI etc could be transformational for the good of mankind but not in the hands of those only concerned with profit.

The answer is - don’t know because I genuinely can’t tell if he’s injured, very rusty or just not good enough. If he’s injured it doesn’t seem right to start him and if it’s either or both of the latter two then there’s an upside in improving him.

I banned myself. I’m pleased with that.
