I totally agree, and I think the increasingly more common 10-minute-talk format is exacerbating this. When you have so little time to talk about your cool new findings, it feels like background and methods will usually go by the wayside.

Cited and discussed in Labov (2020), "The regularity of regular sound change." I'm reading this paper for the first time. It presents such a well-reasoned, well-written analysis that invites and encourages you to ask your own questions about its implications.

The Zotero plugin for Overleaf is glorious, it takes me like 30 secs or less to import a bib into Zotero from clipboard and then click sync on the .bib on Overleaf (I do have to then refresh the Overleaf tab to make it work right tho)

I wonder if this kind of thing will become more common as TRAP (presumably) continues to lower & back across time here. Are these NCS pronunciations (like [dʒɛtliəɡ]) getting fossilized, leading to lexical re-analysis? 🤔

OneDrive enrages me so much and so often that I regularly find myself typing “OneDrive sucks” into Google just so I can find other annoyed people and feel annoyance solidarity.
