A deeply fun and engaged thinker. Jesus is Lord & King. I am a faithful exile. Committed to His Church and building community. DTS Alumni. Memphis TN.
I thought I was speaking in line with what South Africa filed accusing Israel with the ICJ regarding genocidal actions- look it up. But sure, in my amateur opinion it looks like genocide to me. It’s awful I truly care that Palestinians are suffering because of Hamas’ evil.

Did I not use the right words? Yes they have been genocide actions. It’s abhorrent and I see it as nations terrorize or destroy others- the effects of depravity in it all. While it might free a few people it will hurt others. I’ve never fought in armed combat and hope never to.

I read NYT free my public library has a link to give a daily pass on its website. You should check it out, and you should read pieces you agree with and from people you may disagree with. There is no “I’ve read/heard enough to know…” - Foolish talk. I’ll still read John MacArthur but do not agree

Yes - the IDF is committing acts of genocide based on what I’ve read and seen also. Yes - David could and probably should comment more critically in this way, but he hasn’t written a ton on it, & it is openly skeptical that Israel will do better than U.S.. He should be credited for that.

I think you should read the entire article before concluding he’s wrong. Then point out how. Skills learned at DTS.

He is ultimately saying Israel is making the same mistakes America made. And the judgement will come at the end of the war. But Israel did have the right to root out the enemy making war: Hamas.

Same NYT article: “The terrible civilian toll and looming famine in Gaza are a human tragedy that should grieve us all; they are also directly relevant to the outcome of the war.”
I fear you are jumping to conclusions just based on your own opposition to the war.

I keep reading and seeing that French does not support genocide: NYT in 2024: “I want to be very precise and clear here. By “occupying power,” I do not mean that Israel should permanently conquer (much less settle) Gazan territory.”

Nothing on the inappropriate part of publicly attributing some idea to someone who is also a believer (again without evidence) - have you no standards or Christian ethic of public interaction? Your profile claims you do? It’s ok to dump on someone if you feel morally better than them?
April 9, 2025 at 1:54 AM
I think its inappropriate to attribute something negative to someone without evidence. You have thus far provided nothing that shows he supports genocide.

Quoted from NYT opinion in 2023: “This is the problem Israeli soldiers and commanders face. They must protect their citizens from savagery. They must comply with the laws of war. And they must make a series of moral choices, under extreme duress, that can define them and their nation — …”

You said defense of genocide. Defense of some things Israel did after the terrorist attack are quite defendable. So that’s a no to validating your view that he defends genocide? I can check that for you?

Wish I lived in Nashville for this! Memphis is just a hair too far 😄
April 7, 2025 at 11:19 PM
Care to link your source of that take? Have you validated that view with a real flesh and blood person not on social media?
April 7, 2025 at 11:19 PM
I bet you that person isn’t respected by anyone either the way they throw people around. Everyone’s an enemy when they don’t toe every single line you hold.

As an evangelical this appears to be a gross negligence of the Scriptures and our Lord’s character

It’s creepier than you may normally engage in, but you should consider seeing the new movie Heretic. It engages the philosophical and cynical reactions to religion.

So encouraging! I’m from Missouri- and my 11 year old son shares his first name. A different Hebrew spelling of Elijah.
