I agree, the need to categorize is strong. It's easier to make sense of chaos when things fit into a box. I just need to remember to try and keep things focused towards Man v. Nature/Monster/Supernatural rather than Man v. Society/Man given the overarching backstory.

I love creating fantasy heirarchies. I've got a loose idea for one in a D&D setting I'm generating that I want to hammer out a little more, but it's fun to create a societal foundation and see what comes of it.

Follow up:

No arguments! I got lucky and was given a great idea by another associate who suggested a short term medical leave. So, plan is to see what shakes out from what I've done so far and then take the steps to see about the medical leave afterwards.

The hoarfrost has really done some wonders for the nature throughout the place, no questions there. I think one of the coolest things about conditions like this is when that night feeling hits and everything is just a little quieter.
