i wouldnt mind it if it happened, but i cant help thinking that it possibly helps pubs because people who cant or wont pay sky etc head to the local to watch it there. i miss cricket on bbc, c4 etc, sky have total monopoly

yes, more social housing and affordable housing please. everywhere i go i see new developments of 2-5 bed homes, the majority of which are usually 3+because the developers mamalee more profit on them. force them to build affordable houses or set up a national housing organisation and do it ourselves

is it possible to donate monthly? its not clear from the link. this should be easy to do and visible to see. many people wont be able to afford a large amount bit smaller monthly amounts could be feasible

a job guarantee and/or ubi would both be a great improvement over current unemployment support. one difference tho is that gov spending would probably be a lot higher on ubi than jg. Additionally with the jg work can be targeted where it is considered to be most needed. both ubi and jg could work

4) lastly this continues the narrative that we need wealthy people in order to fund gov spending. the truth is that although taxation is required to give value to the currency, spending doesnt have to balance tax income. all gov spending is newly created money.

1) if you want to seriously reduce inequality a wealth tax would need to be more than a little
2)How do you calaculate wealth? its not easy and could take much time and effort
3) its hard to tax existing wealth, so focus on income and asset appreciation?

yes there will always be some waste, misallocation of resources etc, its part and parcel of being a big diverse organization. but this shouldnt prevent local councils from doing all the good stuff they are capable of if allowed to do so. worry about funding is stopping l progress in this country
November 17, 2025 at 10:52 PM
absolutely. councils know the local area, often have good ideas and people who care about where they live and are motivated to help drive change. but they are constantly hamstrung by restricted funding.

if disapproval of trump leads to voter dissatisfaction of the Republicans generally, which leads to more Democrats being elected, if these are the same mainstream corporate dems as most in recent history then little will change and the cycling continues between the 2 parties and evermore rightwards
November 13, 2025 at 1:04 PM
having more progressive individuals with the Democratic party to choose from is not as easy because it requires the voters to discover which they are, to take time out of busy lives to research and try to see through the deliberate false messaging by mainstream candidates. Follow the money is best
November 13, 2025 at 12:56 PM
mind you if its mostly mainstream corporate Democrats regaining power then the cycle continues and not much will change. problem is the vote for rejection of the status quo has nowhere to go. A new party is desperately needed with truly progressive policies and which refuses all corporate funding.
November 13, 2025 at 12:50 PM
Republicans didnt do well in the recent elections. probably most of their recent success was people voting specificially for trump rather than actually supporting the party as a whole. As his popularity declines so should the partys vote share.
November 13, 2025 at 12:46 PM
but isnt it good for the people who have the jobs? hopefully their quality of life will increase if the wages are decent and they may therefore be a bit more happy with their lives. are you saying that if the jobs were all automated this would be beneficial, even with higher unemployment?

he's clearly in it for his ego and to make money. nothing else appears important to him

excellent work, well done Steve. the only thing id say is that it's not easy to read the title text against the background cover picture
November 5, 2025 at 12:08 AM
are there any other countries that have or may soon have people in influential positions that are mmt aware (and understand how it could change policy opportunities)
November 4, 2025 at 11:21 PM
