Carlos Sainz encouraged Williams to try an "experimental" setup approach for the Qatar GP: "So far we've been very solid. A point in the sprint, a position better now in quali, and a top seven going into the race. If you would have told me before the weekend, I would have not believed it."

Charles Leclerc on a big spin and P10 in Qatar GP qualifying: "I just took a stupid amount of risk, just like I do on every single corner in Q3, to try and get P8/P9. It was a little bit too much. Then I brought it back for Q3 run two, and that was just fine, and it was a really good lap."

The F1 World Championship battle is finely poised with the three contenders in the top three on the Qatar grid - and McLaren's first priority is to ensure that Max Verstappen is no longer in the fight heading into the Abu Dhabi finale:

Lando Norris on P3 in sprint qualifying: "The pace was there. I just made a mistake in the last corner on my first lap and didn't put it together. It's impossible to overtake, so I'm probably going to finish P3, but if I can at least get George off the line that's probably the most I can hope for."

Charles Leclerc on Qatar sprint qualifying - and getting stuck behind Carlos Sainz: "I think he was taking quite a significant gap to the car ahead just before safety car line two. And then obviously it puts all the guys behind under stress. He has the right to do that, but it's very annoying."

George Russell on the Qatar sprint: "I don't want to put a downer on it, but Turn q is probably going to be where we end up, really. We briefly spoke about it this morning in the driver's briefing, about why the DRS hasn't been extended. I hope maybe after the sprint they can adjust it if needed."

Max Verstappen frustrated with P6 in Qatar sprint qualifying: "Not good from the first lap, just really bad bouncing and very aggressive understeer that would shift into oversteer at high speed. So just not what you want to go faster. Then you're locked in."

Gabriel Bortoleto on Turn 1 contact with Lance Stroll in Vegas: "Misjudged a little bit the braking point, I think five metres earlier I would have probably stopped the car. I'm sorry for Lance, it was my fault. I don't have much to say, it just ended up so early, the race. A shame."

Pierre Gasly on Vegas: "Just got spun around, and my diffuser got smashed at the back. A long f**king flight to end up spun around Saturday and get another unlucky race in Vegas. For me, it's been three years in a row where I have very strong quali, and it doesn't really translate into the race."

Liam Lawson on P6: "I think we had a quick car. These conditions normally help us. Honestly, I feel like we even had more more in the tank today, we missed the last lap by one or two seconds. With how the session had been going at to that point, I felt pretty confident we could have improved."
November 22, 2025 at 8:08 PM
Gabriel Bortoleto on P18: "I couldn't extract a lot of grip in the last two laps. I think that's where I missed out. I lost a bit of confidence with the car. At the beginning of the session, I was quite happy, and braking late and feeling comfortable, and at the end I had no confidence anymore."
November 22, 2025 at 8:07 PM
Franco Colapinto on P16: "I touched a kerb in the last corner and I had a massive slide, and I lost the lap. I think we were improving a lot. It was just very tricky out there, a lot of sliding. Q1 was difficult, Q2 again a lot of locking. Just not very happy with that last part of the session."
November 22, 2025 at 8:05 PM
Alex Albon on crashing late in Q1: "Frustrating in many ways. I think we just need to review where we were on track. In the end, I had one clean lap, so I kind of had to make it count. It was my only clean lap, so I didn't really have any rhythm at all. Made a mistake, and that was it."

Laurent Mekies on P19 for Yuki Tsunoda: "We made a big mistake with his tyre pressure which meant that he was out there with a setting that basically gave him no chance to be competitive, so we as a team apologise to him for that. This sort of thing should not happen, but it did."
November 22, 2025 at 2:43 PM
Andrea Stella on Vegas pole: "Lando was able to express some exceptional performance with the intermediates, and even the pole position lap there's a pretty significant mistake in the last chicane, which cost several tenths. But in the first couple of sectors, that's a very strong performance."
November 22, 2025 at 2:42 PM
Lance Stroll P12 as the only driver on inters: "Stupid in the end. Not the team's fault. It was a group decision, but I was told I was going to get three push, I only got two push. That's where it went wrong. So a shame, we threw away a good opportunity today to fight for the top three, top four."
November 22, 2025 at 2:40 PM
Max Verstappen on P2 in Las Vegas: "It was super slippery, it felt like ice. To be honest, not a lot of fun to do. I love driving in the wet, but this for me is a little bit too much, I would say. You just have to be super careful. And honestly, I was surprised there were not too many incidents."
