The NHL 15: The New York Rangers seem to be counting on J.T. Miller to fix a lot of issues, on the ice and off of it. I'm not sure he can. And that's not a statement on him. It's a statement on the Rangers and the team they have built. adamgretz.substack.com/p/the-nhl-15...
The NHL 15: The Rangers are counting on J.T. Miller to fix a lot
He might not be able to do everything they expect. That also has nothing to do with him and everything to do with their roster and how their team has been built.

Never look at potential free agent classes more than a year in advance and expect any of the major names to be available. They won't be.

Larry Brooks is going to write some bangers this season.

TJ Oshie seems uncomfortable on TV so far.

It is only one period but Ceci and Dumoulin already have appalling numbers for the Kings. What an unforced self-own there.

Tough to tell from TV but Yankee Stadium does not seem to respond to Renegade the way Pittsburgh does.

The Penguins went into the third period holding a 1-0 lead and outshot the Rangers 12-5 and were pushing a 70 percent expected goal share in the third. Perhaps the most impressive part of the night for them. They locked it down. Game never felt at risk.

The Pittsburgh Penguins may not win a lot of games this season but that was a wildly impressive debut. That was as structured and disciplined as they have played in years. Young guys did not look out of place. That was solid. Solid game.

That is unbelievable.

Penguins got a little sloppy past few minutes but that is an atrocious call against Letang. Holy shit. Brutal.

Overall that was a pretty strong period from the Penguins. Kindel did not look out of place at all. Crosby still has the juice. The left side of the defense is exactly as advertised, however.

I don't say this lightly but I love you.

With the Penguins opening in New York tonight going to link back to something I wrote in August: Madison Square Garden is still the best stadium/arena experience I have seen. Love going there no matter the event. adamgretz.substack.com/p/what-makes...
What makes a good stadium experience?
There are a lot of factors at play here.

Just watched 10 minutes of FS1 in utter disbelief that Tarik Skubal was pitching a second game in a row before I realized it was actually a replay of Game 2.

Also from this week: Connor McDavid did the Edmonton Oilers an absolutely gigantic favor. Now they have to return it for him. adamgretz.substack.com/p/connor-mcd...
