Failed academic, bad anarchist, worse settler. Dogs are my friends. Land back and decolonisation are my goals. Poor decisions are my reality. He/him.
Excited to invite everyone to attend a launch for "Settler: Identity and Colonialism, 2nd ed" at Woodland Cultural Centre, Brantford ON, on 6 September at 2:30pm. Emma and I can't wait to share our work with folks in one of our favourite places. Please share far and wide!

Normalize this. I left in the middle of a second year field trip when I heard my girl, Xena, was dying and didn’t speak to anyone for a week after. Why? Because I wouldn’t have been good for anything under those conditions anyway. (I also got her paw tattooed on my shoulder.)

Georgian Bay is beautiful.

I am very tired. So very tired. Things are hard.

But here’s a Gabby photo. Good things exist too. Mostly in dog form.

Awesome day of music at the KSfest.ca festival in downtown Toronto. Props to the Downie Wenjack Fund for helping Indigenous artists reach a wider audience and making such a fun, accessible event. Highly recommend the Mohawk Soda Co. strawberry sweetgrass drink!

Sunday afternoon, Leicester turned out in joyous defiance of anti-trans moral panic, spineless politicians who enable it, & grifters who profit from it. Despite wind and cold, people of all genders, ages, and abilities came together for human dignity. Thank you to all who organised and participated.

CW: injury
After 24 hours I’m finally willing to admit that the most painful thing I’ve ever experienced was my toe being badly dislocated.

Gabby loves keeping an eye on the neighbourhood.

No argument there.

The world is a mess but tonight we celebrated my father’s birthday with my brother and his family, and it was wonderful.

Protect trans kids (today and everyday).

My often awkward dog Gabby, the black and white boxer cross, has decided she’s “okay” with Marzipan Rover, my brother in law’s mastiff-lab cross. It’s adorable.

No other NHL team has to lit up with this kind of continuous negativity from the national media that carries the games. When they lose, there’s multiple headlines saying why they’re terrible. When they win, there is one headline about how they didn’t deserve it.

Gabby believes (rightly) that watching the Maple Leafs is bad for my health (mental, physical, emotional) - and she’s correct -so this how she prevents me from harming myself.

With mine and Emma's revised second edition of 'Settler: Identity and Colonialism' coming next month from @fernpub.bsky.social here are some comments on the new edition by some awesome people:

It’s truly awesome and highly recommended. It’s also literally the only food available at 5am!

People keep asking if I’m excited to cheer for Canada today. As an anarchist who can’t stand what is happening in the USA, I’ve decided to head off these questions with my choice of shirts.
February 20, 2025 at 3:07 PM
Uhm, where did everything go?
February 16, 2025 at 2:16 PM
Here’s what I don’t get about the Leafs - how are they winning face offs 6-4, even on hits, ahead on giveaways 8-4, ahead on takeaways 2-1, ahead on blocked shot 5-2, and behind on shots 10-6 and goals 1-0? It makes no sense.

The world is on fire but at the moment I’m exhausted and watching hockey with my dog.
February 5, 2025 at 2:04 AM
Glad you’re still here. We are all better for it. ❤️

I know exactly what that’s like.

So, @stevedangle20.bsky.social I finally picked up a copy of your book, but my 'assistant' Gabby thinks it takes too much time away from walkies. Any advice on how to achieve a good work (dog walking) and life (reading about hockey) balance?
