Okay, I'm not gonna quit my day job, but I am having fun scripting comics :D. And I'm impressed with Nano Banana, both because of its higher-quality output but also because it's probably the first time in YEARS that Google has surfaced even a shred of whimsy <sigh>.

The correlation between the quality of a thing and the quality of its *marketing* is pretty damn loose.

I think people forget that a lot... whether it's movies, restaurants, or areas of tech.

Forgive the subskeeting, but I've always believed that real journalists conscientiously avoided making their stories about themselves, and I do wish we'd return to those times.

Have the folks slamming Waymo ever lost a person or a pet to *human* drivers?

I've lost both, and have some very... choice words for those against AVs, but I'll manage some restraint at the moment.

Today's heartfelt Life Advice from old-guy-not-yelling-at-clouds: Make recurring joy!

More specifically, find something you can (and will!) do at a set time (at least every week!) that makes you happy. A pottery class, date night, volunteering, walk-with-a-friend, etc.

Criticism and satire are vital parts of public discourse. Threats of violence are not. We've developed bad behaviors online, saying things behind screens that we'd never say irl. Joking or not, it's a slippery slope. This is about maintaining a space for fierce disagreement.

Person1: "I recorded all the Osaka subway stop announcements"
Everyone: ❤️ 🥰

Person2: "I recorded the relentless and cringey Safeway announcements"
Everyone: 🤬🤮

Life tip: Update Zoom well before your meeting.

Nothing worse than showing up on the dot for your job interview or other critical meeting only to be delayed by a mandatory Zoom software update.

Hot but sincere take: We mostly don't need to 'manage' our email better, we just need to be smarter about email subscriptions.

Unsubscribing from most things or filtering 'em into a "for searching only" folder/label = WIN!

You're welcome.

Just saw the first two episodes of "Plur1bus" and -- as impressive as it is -- I'm frankly pining for another "The Good Place" or "Ted Lasso".

I sometimes ponder about the "unfounded claim" that the NYTimes is 100% owned by the Trump family.

Admittedly, there's zero credible evidence for that crazy assertion whatsoever.

Just like the "unfounded claim" in this awful headline below.

FFS, NYT, it's a "lie" or, at minimum, "baseless claim"

A very sobering and worthwhile read and, yes, somewhat ironic to post here.

I've definitely reduced my social media time drastically in the last years, but maybe I need to do more reducing :\

And now for some (literal) harmony in otherwise oft-unharmonious times!

Listen to me and 150+ other people sing "Breaking Free" from "High School Musical" :-)
