Sometimes i hesitate to post things like this, because they might suggest life is all fresh bread smells and a cozy kitchen, when in fact I’m still feeling upset by a bad call at work and I haven’t written a single word today, and the bread is more like a lifeline thrown out into a storm.

This is a public service announcement from the world of EMS: when someone is unconscious, dumping cold water on them is generally the most effective method of making them wet and unconscious.

Fact is, Trump made it 100% clear he wouldn’t accept a defeat, and was willing to upend democracy and marshall domestic terrorism to get what he wanted. These were our options: this reality or open civil conflict and political violence at all levels of society.

Tesla has sold about 5 million vehicles to date, and if the company didn’t give its nepo babyboss an absurd $45 billion bonus, every single one of those vehicles could have cost $9000 less. Nine. Thousand. Dollars. Per vehicle.

I’m crushed. For an extremely brief moment today, @rbreich.bsky.social decided to follow my carefully curated feed of chicken photos and promos for friends’ books. Then, like a fair distribution of wealth that supports a robust middle class, he was gone.

I feel like this deserves amplification, particularly in places where queer literature is being suppressed and banned. If you live in the US and use the Libby app for ebooks and audiobooks, you can get a free library card from the Queer Liberation Library. www.queerliberationlibrary.org

This is Winter. She lays blue eggs, and is one of the bossiest senior hens in the flock. This year, her sister Page hatched some of Winter’s chicks, which are now part of the same flock, and laying their own greenish eggs.

For a writer at this point in my career, I think the most satisfaction I get from publishing is when I hear that a teacher is using my work in a class. It reminds me of how certain stories were like lights drawing me forward, back when I only dreamed I might write myself someday.

Speaking of frightening things, I pulled up my insurance statement for my unscheduled bat bite (which took place after it flew through the open window of the car). The ER billed $19,000.

I want to record a single called “Love You All Night Long” about me & my person getting an early bedtime in a cool room, watching some funny videos and listening to a bit of an audiobook before falling into uninterrupted slumber with the dogs nearby, then waking up just before the alarm goes off.

I’m enjoying season 2 of The Bear, but I would watch the hell out of a spin-off in which Clarence (Lionel Boyce) and Chef Luca (Will Poulter) just roll out pastry dough side by side and quietly, slowly share their stories, always calling each other “chef.”
