Ooof. Yah, that's different. Sorry. I just have no patience for lines. That would drive me a little nuts.

Unless you live in Racine, Wisconsin, where there is only one person, but there's never a line, and she's a delight to talk to whenever I go in there. In this one case, it's okay...but I hear ya. And it's why I print all my labels at home and only do drop-offs. No post office lines for me.

I have no words.

So, while I do find that Claude Opus 4.5 does have some real solid strengths, and I really like some of the text and responses it gives me...it feels like I'm not too worried about people using Claude to try and copy our illustration style and produce high-quality coloring pages.

Finally, I gave the EXACT SAME PROMPT to Claude. Nothing different. Nope.

Result:

Next up was Gemini (Nano Banana).

Result: quite intriguing. It felt a lot more like our style, and it had some really fun shapes and coloring and designs. And hey, I guess since they got rid of Joseph and it's just Jesus and two Marys in the stable...that's pretty progressive.

So, first I asked ChatGPT to take a shot at it.

Result: fine. Looks like a lot of what you'd find if you googled "Baby Jesus Nativity Coloring Page." Pretty generic, and...fine.

First, here are typical coloring pages we create.

But with the advancement of image generation capabilities, why couldn't someone just go to ChatGPT and say, "Make me a coloring page for Luke 2:1-7 (Christmas/Nativity) in the style of Illustrated Ministry." Does that mean a portion of our business will be obsolete at some point. So I ran a test.

Now, I know you both have some experience/past with the church. I run a small, independent publishing company @illustratedmin.bsky.social and we use AI in a number of ways for the business. However, one thing we make are kick-ass coloring pages that are inclusive, progressive, and better than most.

so I pulled up ChatGPT on my iPhone and switched into voice mode. She was very mad when I mentioned her name to ChatGPT. And my 13-yr old son thinks it's just freaky, odd, SUPER sus, and he does not like it at all.

Generational thing? Who knows. But I'm interested in others' experiences.

I've had some somewhat long conversations with ChatGPT, and while sometimes buggy, I've enjoyed them, especially when driving around.

My kids, however...there are legitimately freaked out by it. My daughter asked me something a few months ago that I didn't know the answer to...

Oh man...I still remember going over to Trevor's house when I was in middle school and seeing that cake scene...when I very CLEARLY knew I was NOT supposed to be seeing that cake scene...

Oh, man. How true. I agree that it sucks, but perhaps seeing this might make me get back to the gym, because it's true...

I feel like I’ve heard that before….. would make a great podcast name…
