This can't be naiveté. Just cowardice. Albanese must know that thwarting a Palestinian nation-state has been Israel's (and its nascent institutions prior) position since the Peel Commission.

Hopefully Australia is so naughty the US will say “no subs for you!”

A grotesque display of opulence from the world's elite. Billionaires feast on taxpayer funded banquets while they back a genocide and burn the world.

But sure, migrants are the problem.

The Coalition will do what it always does when Labor sidles up to them to negotiate on legislation. Flirt, for a little while, extract a concession or two, then stand Labor up, leaving them looking stupid.
If Labor really wants a commitment from the Coalition, they're going to have to get married.

Our LULUCF is in a similar mess with big discrepancies between federal and state data on tree loss. At this rate, the world will meet our targets and the Keeling curve will go forever upwards. We are going to cook ourselves.

It was more the vibe, than, you know actual facts. That’s how we do policy now.

Labor were certainly less transparent before the election. But it did at least signal it wasn't interested in restricting fossil fuel interests when it kyboshed the EPBC Act reforms.
adeepgreenheart.bsky.social
At least he was transparent. Labor’s strategy to reduce emissions will not involve stopping any fossil fuel projects from being approved.

- Our plan to prevent runaway heating will not include the *only* thing that will actually stop it.

That Labor has been dragged this far is a miracle. No longer a party wish to step out in front, but happy to follow when other parties make the running. (Despite doing all it can to pillory others.)

Independence from the political elements of the executive and general trust from the community has massive transaction cost savings. We have our elections, we count the votes and get on with it. We have problems, but iron them out.
Having the process of voting a contested space must be exhausting.

Assess the veracity of the intelligence against the propensity of the source to lie.

Simples.

Your regular reminder that every year the Australian people subsidise private schools to the tune of $22 billion while the public school down the road from you will be waiting another decade for its bare minimum funding.

And to think that it collapsed at the hands of a clueless fucking idiot seems almost poetic.

Labor's intention is never to learn anything (about anything). Labor's purpose is simply to politically diffuse issues in the eyes of the media and the voters.

Spilling your coffee is a mishap. Indicted war criminal, Netanhayu knows enough English language to know he is diminishing this murder.
adeepgreenheart.bsky.social
Now Albanese has said that soon he’ll conditionally recognise a Palestinian state, he thinks he has diffused it as a political issue.
That’s the problem with parliamentary Labor.
It doesn’t see anything in terms of principle.
adeepgreenheart.bsky.social
True that.

(And I don’t really think what i said. The QPS are clearly and cynically acting politically; picking a side, as it were. But they get it so wrong it does make them look really stupid.)
