I want to be a filmmaker because I have things I feel I need to say and I hope to god they’re half as meaningful to all of you as they are to me. This is, to me, the first presentation of who I could be as a filmmaker and storyteller. I hope it meant something to you all.

I just wanted to make something that…I don’t know. I wanted to share a piece of myself, I wanted to take this movie I loved, and use it and analyze it and add to it in a way that showed my own artistic drive and voice. It felt like something I needed to say.

I’m really happy people are enjoying the video. As you might’ve been able to tell…it was very personal. Truth be told it’s only half the story, I’m still dealing with the mental scars left behind by the experiences I describe, the self hatred, the fear of rejection.

if the democratic party starts stepping away trans people they might as well sign this country away to the far right forever

Yes but also every other entry in the franchise are technically each separate continuities which also hurts my brain in a way.

Like I feel like I barely know Motoko Kusanagi’s full emotional state, like I had parts of it but that her meeting in the finale had far more meaning than I had read into it while watching, thus feeling detached.

So I finally watched Ghost in the Shell for the first time, and I was very taken by it visually and intellectually…but I feel like I’m missing a lot on an emotional level. So much so I thought the ending was the beginning of a third act, not a finale. Maybe rewatches will help.

My message to Bengals upper management

‪Which racism is stupid in general, but it is funny how immediately it falls apart if you don’t even know what the differences are supposed to be.‬
adequateemily.bsky.social
‪Like I had none of that historical context, with most of my education on racism as a white sheltered kid focusing on more directly American forms of racism that I just had no idea why he was even mad.‬

When I was in middle school I didn’t know anything about the history of the Romani people and the bigotry in Europe or even who they were, so when we watched Hunchback of Notre Dame in French class, I was really confused why Frollo was so mad at people traveling and camping.

‪Actually huh…from My Left Foot onwards, is The Boxer his only non period piece? I mean Anemone seems to be set early 2000s, late 90s rather than now so…huh yeah.‬
adequateemily.bsky.social
‪Also maybe I’m wrong but is this the most currently set film of Daniel’s career this century? Gangs of New York, The Ballad of Jack and Rose, There Will Be Blood, Nine, Lincoln, and Phantom Thread are all period pieces, newest setting of any of those was the 80s.‬

Just saw Anemone and it’s full of some incredible imagery, music, and performances that unfortunately don’t really add up to much, but I do think Ronan Day-Lewis shows some promise as a director.

‪And to be fair, while I am not religious anymore personally due to how I saw some people become cruel through it, I do totally respect people who’ve found a positive, empathetic, and caring force in it, like it seems the Angel Hare creators have.‬
adequateemily.bsky.social
‪Granted, Angel Hare is about a child in an abusive household receiving help from a real biblical angel in their religious cartoon, while my house was actually quite safe and it was more my internal fear of who I was expected to be in society being distracted by Billy and Mandy.‬
adequateemily.bsky.social
I’m glad someone noticed! I thought it was a cute nod because Angel Hare is a web series ABOUT receiving comfort from a cartoon as a distressed child…and I felt like that related to what I was talking about so…I felt it was worth a quick reference. Just to show my appreciation.
