I thought the newest episode of Ultraman Omega was better shot than any of the previous Omega episodes. These shots, in particular, stood out to me.

I kind of like that Kouhei's a bit of a dick but there were times he could be annoying, especially with that voice. I don't remember the other two having that much to do for most of the series. The BGM is ass, to the point of ruining some scenes. Dr. Osanai was epic, though.

B-Fighter Kabuto. Very, extremely okay series. I didn't hate my time with it and there were some really good episodes here and there but I feel like it's lacking in a strong identity. Melzard were pretty lame villains.

I'm glad that Dekaranger mostly committed to episodic case of the week stories because I feel like that, combined with the world that the show had built, allowed for more variety than many other Sentai.

Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger. Jasmine is an ESPer. This is Sen's thinking pose. I'm not your partner. So you're this planet's Dekaranger? Nonsense.

Just watched the Dekaranger episodes, "Alienizer Returns" and "Mirror Revenger". What a great pair of episodes. Speckonian Genio is an excellent monster. I think having the MOTW be alien criminals is one of the best concepts for a Sentai. (1/3)

I replied to a post by @impererric.bsky.social on Twitter a couple of days ago about favourite tokusatsu shots. Thought I'd share them on BlueSky too.

The only American B-Fighter is named Mac Windy. This is a reference to the fact that Americans like to fart a lot.

The most recent series I watched was Cybercop. I liked it for the most part. I didn't care for the humour but there was some intrigue in the overarching storylines; had some cool characters I would have liked to see more of but the lead, Jupiter, does hog a lot of the spotlight.

with the material they were given. Shin Kishida's character was my favourite and I was sad to see him receive less prominence in the back half. Fireman's notable for having one of the bleakest, most hopeless endings to a toku series ever that, honestly, more people should know about.

After following the mess that is Fireman's fansubs for five years, I finally watched the whole show recently. I liked the first 12 episodes best, when it's focused on grounded sci-fi with some really hard-hitting emotional moments. I think it lucked out on getting a really talented cast who do a lot

I rewatched Metalder and Ultraman Nexus this year. Still two of my favourite toku of all time. I think Metalder kind of hits a slump around the 20s but is redeemed by an incredible final arc. I really do think Nexus mastered the art of serialised storytelling, even with the rushed finale.

Den-O is probably my favourite Kobayashi series that I have seen. Momotaros is a funny character - I can see why he became so popular. I thought it was unique that the lead in a Rider series was kind of a pushover and shy. Zeronos became my favourite secondary Rider since Agito's G3.

Sharivan was a show I was not feeling at all early on but I'm really glad I stuck with it because I think it's consistently really good after the first cour. I liked how eerily Madou were presented and Reider was a great addition to shake up the status quo.

First toku series I finished this year was Abaranger. Loved the first 17 episodes. Yukito, Ranru, Ryunosuke and Emiri are all really fun characters and it was one of the few toku to consistently make me laugh.

I've been watching Operation Mystery recently. Episode 4 is a masterpiece that should be seen by any fan of Akio Jissoji.
