I saw this & immediately thought it was John Curtis, a big lefty with a beard. Curtis occasionally wrote articles for the Boston Globe, San Diego Union Tribune & Sports Illustrated.

We might find it infuriating that this fellow didn't get it all these years. But he finally got it. Better late than never.

Mickey Lolich pitched 376 innings in 1971. Wilbur Wood topped him in 1972 with 376.2 innings. Wood & Lolich finished 2nd & 3rd in AL Cy Young balloting in 1972 behind Gaylord Perry. Strange days indeed. R.I.P.
