Mining my postdoc for trauma to write poems about. Then I realized what great blackout poems I can make from the abstracts of all my published scientific papers.

Come for the poems, stay for the tea ☕

From “Let your body register a sound”, a poem about infrasound and the beauty that we miss when we’re not fully listening. Read it over on Substack. Link in bio.

Did you know that most of us will only ever hear a recording of a tiger's roar, where the infrasound will have been lost during the audio file compression? I know, I also grieved.

I had a recent epiphany that I can write poems about the nerd sh1t I like and not everyone will get it, and that’s ok. (I know, right?)

I also realized how much I’ve been masking in my own creative expression. Commentary on that in Part One, over on Substack.

A poem I wrote as a tribute to my late father. One year gone today. Miss him.

Channeling my grief into writing helped me to process my Dad’s illness and passing a year ago, and continues to help me keep his memory alive.

I wrote a poem to honour him on the first anniversary of his passing. Read more over on Substack.

Thinking about home this time of year.

It was my Dad's birthday on Friday and it's almost one year ago to the day that he passed.

My heart has been running on Atlantic time.

After a bout of COVID, sharing a poem I wrote during the pandemic. Partly inspired by events happening in my family at the time, and general observations of folks going about their lives in the city, in lines, in chaos, waiting for lockdown to end.
