Back when my kids were in grade school, I have shown up, not once, but twice, a day early for a parent/teacher conference. On one of the days, they squeezed me in. But I’m pretty sure the teachers never wondered where my daughter got her adhd.

I get it. I had 23 years and 3 kids, but as soon as he started treating my teenage daughters a fraction of how he treated me, I started making an escape plan.

I wish it hadn’t taken me that long.
