It is zero weeks since I discovered a timezone bug that caused us to DDOS our own servers.

Reminder to self: there can be more than 24hrs in a day 🤦‍♂️

Now frantically trying to fix the issue before the US clocks change next week.

⭐️ Portal 1.6 is out now with a new feature we are calling ”Circadian Flow”. A single click Portal will now automatically shift with your time of day. Also collection playlists & audio normalisation.

📺 We are about to open up an AppleTV beta next week so ping me if you want to get in on that.

Just shipped a new “Quiet Nature” collection in Portal. This is one of my favs so far, sometimes less is more.

it’s so strange to read about ppl here happily flying from tech conference to tech conference as if it‘s nothing or as if the world wasn’t burning already

I may have hit the apex of Swift concurrency and legacy API hell.

Trying to add AppleScript support to a Swift 6 App. 🙈

Anyone else’s App Store Connect Trends tab look like this or is it just me? It’s been like this for multiple weeks now.

Jumping between #Elixir and #Swift multiple times per day is breaking my brain. The context switch between camelCase and snake_case is a constant fail.

At least mix format and swift-format are keeping me honest.

A month ago we shipped these pretty offers in the Mac app. 🌟

To date not a single person has taken up the offer. Weird. 🤔

Turns out I made a bug and the offer has never shown to any customers. 🤦‍♂️

The irony of BMW car ads in the @99pi.org episode on 15 minute cities is not lost on me.

Did anyone else’s TestFlight purchases on Mac break this week, or just me?

I just get an “Account not in this store” alert and seemingly no way to fix it. 😞

Does anyone have any insight into if the new GPSR regs that come in on Dec 13th apply to software only products? And to what extent App Store marketplaces vs developers are responsible?

Portal 1.5.1 is out now! Possibly the last release in 2024. 🤞

Fixes some caching bugs because I got bitten by macOS file path escaping again.

Fixes some audio regressions in macOS 15.

I cannot speak highly enough of building a product customers love, has genuine value in the world & improves people’s lives in meaningful ways.

The impact doing this has had on my life is hard to express.

We have tags for each location in Portal. There are sometimes lots of tags but we only show as many as will fit nicely on a single row. It took me a while to figure out a nice way to do this in #SwiftUI without using GeometryReader.

Any guesses?

I am “had to get a singles vaccine” years old today. 💉

Celebrating with working from one of my fav locations.

Found these toppers around town today. So lovely to see and really brought a smile to my face. Such amazing attention to detail on the town hall one. What an incredible effort.

I’m normally a “no Christmas until December” kind of guy but feeling festive now so we may get the tree up today. 🎄
