Calling me transgender is technically correct, and this has been true from the moment I was born. However, it places the emphasis on my past body/mind misalignment, and neglects the fact that this is mostly a solved issue for me. The term transsexual is both precise and informative. It makes clear both who I am and the actions I take to live with dignity. I aspired to change my sex the moment I learned it was possible. I became a practicing transsexual the moment I put my first pill under my tongue. I am transgender; but more precisely, I am transsexual. Both terms describe me, but transsexual fits better. So that is what I call myself. If you are unsure what to call yourself, ask what is more important to you: the fact of your body and mind being out of alignment (either currently or in the past), or the fact that you are making active steps to fix this misalignment? Which fact do you want to have emphasized? if u wanna learn more about the history of this and how unity in this movement helped us, i hoghly recommend susan stryker's 'transgender history' it'sa really good boody, one of my favorite histories of the movement, taken form a ton of interview with ppl from the time and historigoraphy

Some random person just walked into my unit maybe 20 or 30 minutes ago and asked if he could record me for social media. Can you figure out how he had access in the first place and address that? I'm very uncomfortable with the idea of just random people being able to walk in to the unit.

Surveying exclusively trans women in the U.S., exactly 0% indicated being NOT at risk of being the victim of a hate crime. Further, "Over 50% of participants said they were currently at risk to each of the following harms: sexual assault, murder, and/or hate crimes."

This is in the U.S., folks!!

took this the last night i was in the yard. me and my fellow trainees got permission to line up the trains and do a "party", having them all wig-wag their lights and do their horns in the yard, in middle of the night, while it was snowing.

i got forced off the job not long after for being trans...

yeah! that's kinda what i'm doing, in my thesis paper i do say what's in the screenshot but most of my observations, analysis, and arguments are NOT fixated at all in biological or medical conventions- rather the social constructions and how they are enforcement of our position.
In other words, there are direct and material costs associated with transitioning to womanhood. Trans women do transition to womanhood. Sex is neither binary nor immutable, it is eminently fluid, and it is entirely possible to change from one sexed embodiment to the other. While this thesis is not a medical study, feminizing HRT changes gene expression and translation (Bahl et al.) (Shepherd et al.), gives trans women a “bloodless period” (Nguyen), and creates embodied secondary sex characteristics associated with womanhood. (Gender Dysphoria Bible)

I've got something for this, Talia. This is an excerpt from my upcoming thesis project, based on the most recent numbers from my study - 74% of trans women, according to my data, are identifying risk due to "increased or hypervisibility" vs. only 11% identifying risk due to "decreased visibility."
As it stands, 74% of participants indicated feeling at risk of harm, due to the visibility forced upon them. This was measured by asking specifically about the risk of “bad things happening to you due to increased or hypervisibility.” This demonstrates what is often discussed in intracommunity feminist discourses: visibility for trans women is a threat, not a privilege. This is also a clear demonstration of precarious form C. When asked if they feel at risk due to “decreased visibility”- just over 60% said no and the other almost 29% said “maybe”, and the final 11% said “yes” specifically to being at risk of “bad things happening to you due to decreased visibility.” (See figure 5.1A Risks Of Visibility) Figure 5.1A Risks Of Visibility - a bar chart that shows "Decreased Visibility" risks being "yes" at 11%, "maybe" at 28.7%" and "no" at 60.30% in contrast to "increased or hypervisibility risks" being "yes" at 74%, "maybe" at 17.8%, and "no", at 8.20%.
