Americans are being targeted because advertisers pay higher ad rates to reach American internet users, who are among the wealthiest in the world. In turn, social media companies pay more money if the people engaging with the content are American. This has created a system where it makes financial sense for people from the entire world to specifically target Americans with highly engaging, divisive content. It pays more.

It’s bad that more people aren’t rushing to buy flood insurance (at least for the next 3 years) in light of the fact Trump decides when or if to help based on Red state / blue state.
In a parallel universe, an attentive White House and Congress would be jumping to make more and better climate-risk information available. In our grim timeline, President Donald Trump and the real-world Congress are engaging in their own magical thinking. Climate change is a hoax, according to this worldview, and any acknowledgment of that reality is anathema.

A Lake Erie seiche is a standing wave caused by strong, sustained winds that push water to one end of the lake, lowering water levels in the west (near Toledo) and raising them in the east (near Buffalo). This phenomenon can expose shorelines, cause significant flooding, create dangerous waves and currents, and affect shoreline structures. Seiches occur because of the lake's east-west orientation and shallowness, and are similar to the sloshing of water in a bathtub.
