I met @mauilion.dev earlier this year when I attended my first SCaLE 22x. He is every bit as chill as he appears, and lucky me, I got to have him on my podcast. Plus he smuggled me a silicone Pi brownie dish to Cloud Native Rejekts. 😁

Cool sketch note of the talk that @joshleecreates.bsky.social and I did at CND Austria on Tuesday. Thanks, @taranetz.com!

@adrianamvillela.bsky.social and @joshleecreates.bsky.social showed us why OTEL didn't follow the pattern of xkcd.com/927/

Great talk! It always helps to understand where the purpose of one tool ends and others need to take over.

I would have to agree with you wholeheartedly. I hated it when it first aired, but goddammit, it gives me chills now. Whyyyyy 😭😭

I got Codename Goose to run in a dev container, and goddamit, was it ever a doozy! Learn how I did it. And even if it doesn't apply to you, you can use the general principles from the post to learn how to run apps in a dev container that rely on the GNOME keyring.

Getting my steps in by walking around the Wien Hauptbahnhof in the evening. Got in a 4km walk. 🤣🤣

I hate apps that do ID verification by taking pics of passports or driver’s licenses and don’t account for the fact that it is FUCKING IMPOSSIBLE to take a pic of either without glare or, the case of passports, really weird angles because you can’t lay the photo page fully flat. 🤬🤬🤬

We had a great time learning about scaling OTel log ingestion with Dakota Paasman. 🚀 If you missed the session or were present but would like to revisit it, you can catch the recording here: buff.ly/fpvHQQW

I met @therubyrep.bsky.social when she worked on the On-Call Me Maybe podcast. I have such an appreciation of all the work that she did for us behind the scenes, & I’m excited to have her in front of the mic in this week’s episode of @geekingoutpod.bsky.social.

OMG Emily Chen and I pulled off a half virtual (with Emily in Paris - no joke)/half in-person talk at the cTENcf Toronto meetup in which we talked about our adventures with Block’s Codename Goose. Thanks to everyone who attended, and thanks for putting up with my Star Trek references! 🤣🤣

OMG yes. It took me while to re-wire my brain to be okay with >= 3 letter extensions 🙃

People of a certain age will never understand the struggle of having to fit filenames into 8 characters with no spaces. Even after Windows started allowing spaces and long file names, it took a long time before I felt comfortable enough to move past my 8-character conditioning.

Quick reminder about that OTel in Practice session we've been on about.
Dakota's covering some practical optimization techniques that sound pretty useful. The kind of stuff you bookmark for when you actually need it.

Finally a verification that doesn't suck. I was seriously starting to think that maybe I was a robot after so many fails. 🤖

Happy Friday! Enjoy this fun GIF I made for an upcoming talk with @joshleecreates.bsky.social. Bonus points of you can name the characters. Yes, they all belong to me (except the MLP - borrowed that one from my kiddo).

Right?? Last time I used it was back in 2021, and I still love it just as much!
