Isn't this an issue of UK sovereignty? The US goverment is free to change rules that govern how foreign organisations behave in their country. But how we react to BBC actions in the UK is our business not theirs.

What better proof of a right wing BBC board member conspiracy than its denial by Telegraph columnist BJ

When does the campaign to remove Robbie Gibb from the Board of the BBC get going. We should not tolerate such openly ideological input.

It's a pretty good reason for us Brits to support the BBC and boycott GB News. Why don't they mind their own business.

We can call out the Israeli goverment for its appalling and barbaric policies without being anti semitic. We might find ourselves in a somewhat similar situation in the future when we will be glad of an international outcry against an immoral British Government knowing that this is not anti British.

Rats leaving a sinking ship.

Rayner - careless mistake, admission of guilt, honorable resignation and a just outcome. Farage - planned avoidance, denial of culpability, repudiation of responsibility and unresolved taint.

People are not daft - they'll work out who can be trusted in the long run.

Political authority has been damaged particularly by Cameron's failure re Brexit and Johnson's chaotic and iconoclastic premiership. How do we rebuild this political authority? We need a combination of clear moral leadership and incremental progress in improving governance. Strmer

Farage = Trump

Keep reminding everyone!
August 25, 2025 at 5:32 PM
The newspaper headlines should be "Humiliation for Trump as he comes away empty handed"

We can be pretty confident that Robert Jenrick knows that his statements about migration are to curry favour with sections of the electorate. Is he knowingly repressing his better instincts?

This is the current dilemma world wide. Hannah Arendt, the Great Jewish philosopher described evil as a sort of dry rot that spreads and infects cultures. How do we stop the rot that is now so wide spread and threatens even our own body politic.

Don't forget that many followers of fascism ideology view destruction and suffering as "good for the future of humanity." Mind you those ideologues are usually pretty well insulated from all that destruction and suffering!
July 5, 2025 at 8:15 AM
Yes let's have a band of corrupt ideologues hell-bent on dismantling the services that the state provides for us just like the US! Classic fascism!

It is hardly surprising that the audience joined in given the sense of outrage that we all feel about Israel government actions in Gaza and the West Bank.

Trump the peacemaker?! How much more bloodshed will there be on his watch?
June 14, 2025 at 9:59 AM
Israeli spokesmen defend this on the grounds that after warning shots are fired people who continue to move forward outside the control deserve to be shot. One wonders what this Israeli government would have said about Nazis firing on Jews desperate to avoid round ups or seeking scarce food.

You might be right but you certainly won't convince people not to fall for this nonsense if you describe them as numpties!

The antichrist?
May 3, 2025 at 5:27 PM
Well it's no surprise that Trump lied all the time before, during and after the election campaign . Do you think his followers realise that hi lying shows just how far he holds them in contempt?
